INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT
Downes Pest & Wildlife is committed to practicing Integrated Pest Management (IPM), an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on common-sense practices. For example, if rats are near a dumpster, the first step is to keep the dumpster closed. Or, if there are mosquitoes in the kitchen, close the screened door. These simple changes to the surrounding environment have a lasting effect on pest populations. When complete IPM programs are implemented, pesticides are often not necessary.
How does IPM work?
IPM programs focus on setting action thresholds, identifying pests, monitoring, prevention, and control. Practices include education, communication, exclusion, and limited pesticide applications only when necessary.
Proper IPM programs will effectively identify, control, and eliminate pest infestations and the potential for pest infestations in a residential and/or a commercial environment.
